San Francisco native Miyako J. set her sights on the big city of New York. With over 27 years in the beauty industry. Miyako started her career as a model dresser backstage at the infamous Bryant Park Tents. In the day she would dress models for major fashion brands and at night she bartended at a french restaurant. A chance meeting an actress at the bar led Miyako to her first job as a groomer for a music video in1998. A few days later she would meet a top New York photo editor who helped her become a highly requested groomer for major editorials and music videos. After two years on various projects in New York, Miyako took her talents to Paris, working on stage plays. Upon returning to New York, she received the opportunity to work as a freelance artist for M.A.C. Cosmetics. Her exceptional skills quickly earned her a place on M.A.C's special events team.

After five years with M.A.C Cosmetics, Miyako decided to hit the road again, traveling throughout the Caribbean as the head makeup artist for Pulse's Caribbean Fashion Week. She reached new heights in her beauty career when she became the Beauty Editor of the CFA Award-winning SHE Caribbean Magazine, later winning the 2009 Best Make-Up Award from Caribbean Fashion Awards.

In 2016, Miyako broadened her skills by returning to school to earn her cosmetology license, adding hairstyling and barbering to her expertise. By 2019, she secured an e-commerce makeup position at a prestigious photo studio, and by 2024, she advanced to head of the Beauty Department, managing a team of five artists. Over her distinguished career, Miyako has collaborated with top brands like Target, Nike, Away, Le Gourmand Beauty, James Allen, and Gap. She continues to excel in the industry, working on high-profile productions.
